Glacier

Taken July 4, 2007

This hanging glacier is located in Liefdefjorden in the north of Spitzbergen, the largest island of Svalbard. The clouds that were cloaking the jagged peaks of the valley sides were illuminated by the warm, late evening rays of the sun. At the bottom of the image it is possible to see the very edge of the four and a half mile wide Monaco glacier. The image was under-exposed to add atmosphere and mood to the photograph.
